DERAILMENT MESSAGE #3
Lexington fire personnel have “contained” the fires that
resulted from a train derailment between Fayette Mall and Shillito Park.
The train, carrying hazardous materials, derailed Wednesday
morning. The derailment prompted officials to evacuate a 500-foot area around the
scene, which includes Fayette Mall and Shillito Park.
People are being told to avoid the area until further
notice.
Fire and Police personnel are on the scene and have moved
into the recovery and cleanup phase.
